Early summer social – Wednesday 3 June
Our meeting next month on Wednesday 3 June will be our early summer social. We will be meeting at Redcatch Community Garden in Knowle where we you’ll be able to explore the garden and we’ll get to hear about how the garden developed. There will be a bring and share supper (see below) and a quiz too. You’re become to bring friends too.
Bring and share supper – Please let me know if you will be coming along and what you can bring for the bring and share super. We’ll provide some soft drinks but you’re welcome to bring your own if you want something a bit stronger.
If you need a lift, please let me know as we can arrange for someone to pick you up and drop you home.
Summer trip to National Botanic Garden of Wales – Sunday 19 July 2026

Located in Carmarthenshire, the National Botanic Garden of Wales is a premier conservation and science centre, featuring the world’s largest single-span glasshouse, over 8,000 plant varieties, and a 568-acre Regency landscape. Opened in 2000, it is a top Welsh visitor attraction offering themed gardens, a nature reserve, and a British Bird of Prey Centre.

Help with out Gardening Club plant stall at Secret Gardens – Sunday 14 June, 12-5pm
We’re holding a second plant stall at the Southville Centre, Beauley Road on the Sunday of Bedminster’s Secret Gardens weekend. We need donations of plants – of all kinds (flowers, fruit and veg, houseplants), please let us know by email if you contribute a few plants – southbristolgardeningclub@gmail.com. We also need volunteers to help – if you can spare an hour please let us know by email. See attached flyer

Ebenezer Pocket Park plant stall – Saturday 13 June, 12-3pm
To celebrate the tenth anniversary of the Ebenezer Pocket Park at 48 North Street in Bedminster the are holding a plant sale to raise funds for future projects on Saturday 13 June, 12-3pm. Carmel – gardening club member is organising – all plant donations welcome. Email ebenezerpocketpark@gmail.com if you can help. See attached flyer

Vote to choose this year’s Greater Bedminster Good Front Garden Award design
VOTE NOW – To help choose the design for the 2026 Greater Bedminster Good Front Garden Award. We’ve had 11 lovely designs submitted for this year’s award design – but we need your help to choose just one. Voting ends on Monday 25 May – the winning design will be announced shortly after. Judging from this year’s Good Front Garden Award will take place between Saturday 13 June and Sunday 5 July.

Volunteer judges needed
Judging for the greater Bedminster Good Front Garden Awards will take place between Saturday 13 June and Sunday 5 July. Volunteers can carry out their judging anytime between these dates, but judging must be completed by Sunday 5 July. South Bristol Gardening Club talk – Wednesday 1 July
Nick Wray: Plants of the Avon Gorge – a tale of the Bristol Whitebeam
Nick Wray is Curator of the University of Bristol Botanic Garden. He leads conservation, research and public engagement at the garden and has specialist knowledge of the unique flora of the Avon Gorge, including rare and endemic species such as the Bristol Whitebeam.

The Hardy Plant Society (Somerset Group) final plant fair of the year
Takes place in the beautiful garden at Batcombe House, near Shepton Mallet, on Saturday 13 June 2026 from 12.00 noon until 5.00pm. Please note that, contrary to the paper copies of the NGS Yellow Book, the Plant Fair is NOT taking place on the 14 June. Entry monies go to the NGS.
Sandford Station Retirement Village open garden
Sunday 14 June – pm
Tours of the retirement village gardens – BS25 5AA. There is a cafe on site. There is limited parking but The Strawberry Line cycle track gives access to the site.
